Teacher Sentenced To Life Imprisonment In Ikeja For Sexuallly Violating A Nine Year Old Girl
On Monday a teacher named John Osifo, was sentenced to life imprisonment for sexually violating a nine year old girl in Ikeja Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court.
Administering judgement, Justice Rahman Oshodi held that the prosecution proved the charge of defilement against Osifo beyond every reasonable doubt.
Evidence of the victim was gathered by her mother’s medical examination and it was revealed that her hymen was absent.
He said that the convict exploited the vulnerability of the child under his care and abused her.
“John Osifo, the gravity of your offence cannot be over-emphasized. As a teacher, you are in a position of trust that you breached.
“Instead of showing remorse, you chose to fabricate a lie and alleged that the mother of the victim tried to seduce you.” Oshodi said.
The prosecution, led by Mr. Babajide Boye, presented three witnesses: the survivor, the survivor’s mother, and a medical doctor. The defense called eight witnesses. The court was informed that the convict committed the offense between May 2020 and June 2021 at locations in Ajangbadi, Lagos.
The court afterwards sentenced him to life imprisonment and ordered that his name be registered in the sexual offences register of Lagos State.
