In the ongoing recruitment of 2,000 teachers in Kebbi State, about 100 candidates have be caught with fake degrees and National Certificate of Education (NCE) certificates.
Addressing newsmen yesterday, during the release of appointment letters in Birnin Kebbi, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Basic Education, Hajiya Rafatu Hammani said those found with fake certificates were under investigation as the exercise would continue.
She said the Ministry had forwarded the certificates to candidates’ various schools for confirmation.
“We are working closely with security agencies and institutions to find out how they got fake results and also participated in the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC),” she said.
She said Kebbi State government had approved the recruitment of about 2,000 qualified teachers to replace unqualified ones and ensure quality education in the state.
