Police officers in Ogun State have arrested Alex Eziochukwu in connection with the death of 16-year-old Jamilu Lasisi in Ibegba, Sagamu Local Government Area.
According to Omolola Odutola, the spokesperson for the Ogun State Police Command, Eziochukwu was apprehended on Wednesday after a tip-off from the deceased’s nephew.
Odutola explained, “We received a call from Tobi Olarewaju, reporting that his nephew, Jamiu Lasisi, 16, was playing football with others in the area. During the game, an argument broke out between him and another player. Jamilu fell unconscious and was rushed to Owokoniran Hospital, GRA Sagamu, where a doctor confirmed his death.”
Eziochukwu fled the scene, sparking a police manhunt that resulted in his arrest on Wednesday morning.
“Following the report on Tuesday, detectives combed the area for the suspect, but he remained at large until his capture today,” Odutola added.
Investigations are ongoing to determine the exact cause of death.
