EKO HOT BLOG reports that An Oyo State High Court sitting in Ogbomoso has on Wednesday nullified the selection and installation of Oba Ghandi Olaoye as the new Soun of Ogbomoso.
Oyo State Government had announced Olaoye as the new Soun and the kingmakers of the town installed him on September 8, 2023.
It would be recalled that Prince Kabir Olaoye, one of the contenders for the Soun of Ogbomoso stool, had dragged Ghandi to court, saying he was not eligible for the position of Soun of Ogbomoso.
The Court had earlier directed that the Oyo State government should not announce anybody as the new Soun pending the case before the court is resolved.
However, the state government ignored the court order, announced and subsequently installed Ghandi Laoye as the new Soun.
Prince Kabir Laoye said the process that brought about the emergence of Ghandi was faulty, seeking nullification of the emergence of the new Soun and pleading for a fresh selection process.
While delivering the judgement, Justice Adedokun said the selection process and emergence of Laoye was illegal.
The Judge ordered Ogbomosho kingmakers start the selection of the new king afresh.
