Palpable trepidation filled the air on Monday morning around Olorunsogo estate Adjacent federal low cost housing estate, Sabo, Itokin road, Ikorodu, lagos.
Pandemonium started when a team of special anti-robbery squad (SARS) attempted to foil what appeared to be a car theft.
From what looked like a classic scene from police and thief storyline movie, the SARS operatives where seen chasing down a Toyata camry with a deflated tire in a congested area.
According to an eyewitness who spoke with EkoHotBlog, the driver of the camry being chased drove against traffic with many motorists and pedestrian oblivious of what was happening.
It was after he negotiated a bend from the estate that many onlookers were jolted to reality of what was going on as the SARS operatives open fire on the Toyata car and its driver.
In the ensuing tumult, the driver of the Toyota Camry, due to the barrage of bullets lost control and ram into an electric pole, the pole, due to the gravity of the hit, caved in, broke and fell on a parked Toyota Rav4 car, which the owner claimed he came to service.
Subsequently, SARS operatives arrested the Toyota driver whom they were after. But did not disclose what crime he might have committed.
The driver tried to resist arrest but later succumb after SARS shot sporadically in the air. They took him to Sagamu Road police station.
The man whose car was damaged, a Barrister, seized the Camry’s key, insisting his car must be repaired.
The sars operative came back, toed the Toyota Camry and ask the the owner of the SUV to follow them to Sagam Police station.
