Tension in Ilorin as Students of Two Secondary Schools Clash, Ten Injured
At least ten students were reported injured following a violent clash between students of Government High School and Government Day Secondary School in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, on Monday.
The altercation, which occurred around 11 a.m. in the Adeta area, stemmed from a long-standing disagreement between the two schools.

Eyewitnesses stated that the conflict resulted in injuries to over ten students, with the area thrown into chaos. One witness explained that the dispute had been brewing for about two weeks and escalated, possibly as a reprisal attack.
Some sources have linked the clash to cultism and ongoing rivalry between the students.

Peter Amogbonjaye, the press secretary for the state Ministry of Education, confirmed that a statement would be issued on the matter.
Police spokesperson, DSP Toun Ejire-Adeyemi, also confirmed the incident, adding that several suspects were arrested in connection with the clash during the police’s intervention. She noted that an investigation was still underway to determine the root cause of the conflict.
As of the time of reporting, neither the state government nor the police have released an official statement on the incident.
