FG has slammed the US and UK over calls to avoid some Nigerian States.
EKO HOT BLOG reports that the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Alkali Baba Usman, has warned foreign countries about the terror alert in Nigeria.
This online media platform recalls that the United States and United Kingdom governments released security alerts via travel advisories last week.
They urged their citizens to stay away from Abuja due to planned terrorist attacks.
The advisory also advised the citizens to leave Abuja pending the time the threat is dealt with.
Reacting to the advisories on Saturday while inaugurating a police station and barracks in Ibusa, Oshimili North Local Government Area of Delta State, the IGP pleaded with the citizenry to remain calm.
He condemned the foreign countries for making a public statement without initially alerting the police of the threat.
He argued that the two countries ought to inform the police so they can find a way to tackle the problem instead of alarming the public.
He said, “How can you enter the country and said there is a security alert, you didn’t inform the police, and you go around telling your people; don’t go to Abuja, return from Abuja.
“When you have information on security, it is proper to inform the police and we will find a way to tackle it, instead of taking it to the public.
“We are working in synergy with other security agencies to ensure the safety of residents.”
