The Thani Oladunjoye Old People Care Center in Epe received a significant boost over the weekend as Mrs. Anuoluwapo Idoghor, a travel consultant with Bayview Travel Managers, marked her birthday by donating medical supplies, food items, and cash worth millions of naira to the facility.

Ekohotblog reports that rather than host a traditional celebration, Mrs. Idoghor chose a path of compassion, visiting the elderly home in the company of her mother, Mrs. Adebisi Idoghor, close friends, and siblings.

Her surprise arrival was met with joy and prayers from grateful residents, including Mrs. Abiodun Abass and Mrs. Akinwale Florence, who led emotional blessings for the celebrant.

“I feel elevated, I feel so blessed. They prayed a lot for me and I’m thankful to them,” Anuoluwapo said. “I pray that someday, I will be as old as them and even beyond.”

The facility’s convener, Mr. Tunde Thani, and the Chairman of the Elders in Council, Alhaji Agara Ayinde, warmly received the donations and applauded the gesture, noting the ongoing needs of the home.

“We run weekly health programs here general treatments, physiotherapy, eye care, and even surgeries,” Mr. Thani noted. “This kind of support is not just appreciated — it is deeply needed.”

The day also took a surprising turn when Mrs. Adebisi Idoghor, visibly moved by the experience, announced she would cancel her plans for an elaborate 60th birthday party and instead mark her milestone at the care home later this year a declaration that drew loud applause.

“When she got here, she was really impressed,” Anuoluwapo said. “She made up her mind immediately that she’d come here to celebrate her birthday, and I’m so happy about that, considering our mother’s love for parties.”

Inspired by a friend’s earlier visit to the same facility, Anuoluwapo said she had no idea such a center existed in Nigeria until recently.
