According to Gbemi, a company had ordered 45 packs of lunch from her business, and the food was carefully packaged and sent with a dispatch rider, identified as Rida.
However, upon delivery, Rida allegedly opened the package and stole five packs of food. Gbemi described the incident as both sad and funny.
“People are hungry, and this is sad,” Gbemi wrote on her verified Instagram handle. “It’s funny and not funny at the same time.”
Gbemi’s comments highlight the impact of economic hardship on people’s livelihoods, which has led to an increase in criminal activities, including theft. Many Nigerians have been struggling to make ends meet due to the current economic situation, with the high cost of living and unemployment rates.
The rising cases of theft have become a source of concern for many Nigerians, as they have to deal with the consequences of the actions of the few who engage in criminal activities. The incident involving the stolen lunch packs is just one of many cases of theft that occur daily in the country.
It is unclear if the dispatch rider has been identified and brought to justice for the alleged theft. However, the incident has sparked a conversation about the need for better security measures and policies to address the rising cases of theft in the country.
