Popular Nollywood actor-cum-politician, Yul Edochie, has amplified calls for an Igbo presidency in the 2023 general elections.
In a tweet via his twitter handle on Wednesday evening, the actor who has since expressed his intention to run for the country’s highest office, said “It’s time for Igbo presidency.”
His tweet read: “The Igbos are unhappy. The Youths are unhappy. It’s time for Igbo Presidency. It’s time for Youth Presidency. Give us a chance. Unity, Peace and Progress will be restored. 2023”.
There have been calls by political stakeholders from the South East geo-political zone for political parties to support the emergence of a presidential candidate of Igbo extraction.

Meanwhile, some twitter users have begun reacting to his tweet, saying his tweet is an indication of what his presidency will be like if his campaign is based on ethnicity.
Eko Hot Blog culled some of the comments:
@laondaplus: I disagree with you. The reason why Igbos are unhappy is not because we are not president of Nigeria. It is more because there is no equity, justice qnd fair play in the system. What about other ethnic groups? What we need is a system that works.
@AishatQueen: If it for igbos then you are not for Nigeria, it doesn’t have to tribalism, it not all about igbos it all about the interest of the youths in the nation.
@fattylincorn001: This one want use ethnicity to become president Lori iro.
@OAbibat: The same thing buhari people did, now you’re doing the same…. things just have to change…. we need a president with VISION, a president FOR THE PEOPLE ( doesn’t matter which tribe)…. not a PRESIDENT for his people ( HIS TRIBE)……
That post show a wrong signal….
Remember that, every tribe, even some Northners are unhappy too….
We need a youth with vision……
We don’t care about tribe anymore. We need person wey get sense… thank you 🙏
@lovedr2g: I think when you play the tribal card, it won’t work.
Let’s stick to the youth message.
Africa needs to grow beyond the tribal politics.
We are one people.
@suleaaron: These are the reasons I told you I go start from somewhere & leave presidential ambition. How can you still be thinking about tribalistic politics when you’re suppose to be preaching one Nigerian.
@Samwheto: I believe in a new Nigeria that can emerge through the youth. However, we must build strong walls against tribalism that can affect our peaceful coexistence.
We appreciate your courage to serve, now leave the tribe, and pass the massage of hope…
@MrRufyy: The problem is; the Igbos you’re concerned about(Not Nigeria) do not vote their own, they always go the other way.
