EKO HOT BLOG reports that MultiChoice Nigeria, the producers of Nigerian Idol music talent show, has announced that the winner of the upcoming eighth season of the popular show will receive a whopping sum of N35 million.
This announcement was made by the Executive Head of Content and West Africa Channels at MultiChoice Nigeria, Busola Tejumola, at a media event held at the organization’s studios on Tuesday.

Tejumola revealed that the music reality talent show had recorded a 10 percent increase in the number of entries compared to the previous editions, a testament to the show’s consistent entertainment and healthy competition for the contestants.
“The resources, energy, and originality put into the show each season have attracted more contestants each year, leading to an impressive increase in entries,” she said.
She also noted that the previous seven seasons of the show had produced well-deserved winners, and this year’s winner would receive N35 million and other prizes worth millions of naira.
Last year, Progress Chukwuyem emerged as the winner of the seventh season, walking away with the N30m prize. This year’s winner will have the opportunity to pocket N35 million and join the ranks of the previous winners of the show.
The Season 8 judges’ panel boasts of some top entertainers in the music industry, including Oladapo Oyebanjo, aka D’Banj; Simisola Kosoko, aka Simi; and creative industry entrepreneur, Obi Asika. The show’s host, IK Osakioduwa, will also be back with his usual banter and energy.
The show will premiere on April 23, starting with the recorded auditions. The live shows will commence on May 28 as the contestants battle it out for the ultimate prize until a winner emerges on July 16.
