The Lingering Rift Between Two Political Gladiators, Wike And Amaechi

  • Politicians in Nigeria are used to verbally attacking each other especially when they are not in the same political party.
  • The feud between the Minister of Transport, Rotimi Amaechi and the Governor of River State, Nyesom Wike looks like it will linger much longer than expected.
  • The ongoing saga garners reactions

The ongoing rift between the Minister of transportation Rotimi Amaechi and the Governor of Rivers state Nyesom Wike has sparked a debate online amongst their supporters.

The men have had a long history of feud between them since Nyesom Wike became minister of state for education While Rotimi Amaechi was Governor of Rivers state.

Wike responded to a video made by the minister of transportation who he said accused him of being a drunk.

He opined that if drinking alcohol doesn’t affect your level of productivity, then he doesn’t have a problem with alcoholism.

But Rotimi Amaechi said he wasn’t casting aspersions but was referring to himself and not necessarily pointing fingers at anybody but Dr Wike had a different interpretation.

Wike said after a ground breaking project that Rotimi’s projects are politically motivated which triggered Rotimi’s response referring to Nyesom Wike as a drunk.

Rotimi denies such allegations and said it will be disrespectful of him to refer to his Governor as a drunk. But said he makes sense when he talks because he doesn’t take alcohol.

It is rather unfortunate that both parties who are from the same local government are constantly at loggerheads.

The basic point by the Minister of Rotimi Amaechi was that he cannot be seen exchanging words with someone who was once a member of his staff and he has been in various positions and Nyesom Wike doesn’t have his record of achievements.

He made it clear that his main focus is his assignment as Minister and didn’t want to be involved in politics, EKO HOT BLOG gathered.
