The Reason Behind ‘Timeless’ — Davido Reveals

EKO HOT BLOG reports that Nigerian Afrobeats star, David Adeleke, who is popularly known as Davido, has opened up about losing individuals close to him in his life. In an interview with Beat FM, the artist revealed that he dedicated a song from his new album ‘Timeless’ to them.

Davido, who described those he lost as “legends”, stated that his new song, “Legends Can Never Die,” was written as a result of his belief that even though they are no longer with him physically, he still senses their spiritual presence around him.

The superstar has experienced significant loss in recent years, having lost his mother at the age of 10, followed by his closest friend and bodyguard in one to two years, and most recently, his only son, Ifeanyi Adeleke.

“I don’t think the song is really being sad. I just feel like since I have lost all of them, I don’t want to really feel like they have left me spiritually. I still have them around me a kind of. They were all legends. So that’s why I say that a legend never dies,” Davido said in the interview.

Davido also added that the music is dedicated to everyone who has lost one or more dear ones.
