The Timeless Triumphs Of Molusi College, Ijebu Igbo

By Otunba T J Abass. Class number 2213.

On this 25th day of January 2024, the air is charged with anticipation and excitement as we write the 75th chapter of the chronicles of our alma mater, Molusi College, Ijebu Igbo. The award night of this 75th anniversary pulsates with a collage of activities.

A wave of nostalgia sweeps over us, transporting us back to formative years that moulded us into the individuals we have become today. It isn’t just a stroll down the hall of memories; it is a collective journey, reconnecting us to the heartbeat of our shared experiences, the friendship we have forged, and the lessons we have learned within and outside classroom walls.

Most significantly, we celebrate the monumental milestone of completing our beloved school’s 75th cycle. Three-quarters of a century ago, a vision was set in motion—a vision that has since evolved into the vibrant and nurturing educational institution we proudly call our alma mater today, a prestigious school whose walls reverberate with the motto: “Only the best is good enough for Molusi College ” and nothing but the best.

With every sense of pride, I stand as the emissary of the 69/73 set, a generation that has penned five decades into the rewriting of our national narrative. It’s with pure delight that I honour my choice by the 69/73 to be the torchbearer for a prestigious award on this momentous occasion.

This award is the tangible proof of the intangible values and teachings that have been the bedrock of our lives. It is about the camaraderie that binds us, the resilience that defines us, the journey of 50 years and our shared legacy.

The award is about celebrating not only the past but also a catalyst for future connections and collaborations to continue to positively impact society, particularly this esteemed institution that made us who we are today. It is a testament to the strength of our shared foundation that we can stand here today, a tapestry woven with the threads of countless memories.

It is impossible to pay a genuine homage to our alma mater without giving those who worked behind the scenes their flowers. The teachers teachers ( the Baloguns, Mrs Umo Balogun, Mr Alabi aka Baba Repeted and Mr Ajibola of blessed memory, etc.), the administrators and the support staff were the hands that laid the bricks of our foundation; they are the unsung heroes of our stories. The imprints of every student who has walked through these halls lingered in the air we breathed and have played a crucial role in shaping the identity and spirit of our school.

Through time, our alma mater has withstood profound waves in education, technology, and society yet has retained its essence as the engine room of intellectual curiosity, resilience, and a deep sense of community.

As we celebrate this milestone, let us not only look back with gratitude but also forward with anticipation. Basking in the euphoria of the past is rated second to looking ahead at the future with a spark of excitement. The challenges and opportunities of the future await us, and it is our collective responsibility to continue nurturing young minds, fostering innovation, and instilling values that transcend generations.

In the triumphant spirit of this anniversary, we choose not to dust off the old commitment. Like couples renewing their marital vow, we recommit to excellence, inclusivity and the shared pursuit of knowledge.

May the next 75 years be filled with even more significant achievements, strengthened bonds, and continued dedication to shaping the leaders and contributors of tomorrow.

Happy 75th anniversary to our cherished school!
