The 30-year-old musician also revealed that he received an overwhelming amount of support from his family, friends, and fans, which helped him to cope with the loss.
“At some point, I couldn’t open my Instagram for weeks. One day, I just checked it and I saw messages from every kind of person in the world. I was like ‘you’re fine, you see everybody is rooting for you.’ That was one thing that really made me strong enough to stand up again, get back in the studio and do what I love,” he said.
Davido also acknowledged that the loss of his son was a devastating experience and that he and his fiancé, Chioma, did not deserve it. “Nobody would want that. And everybody knows that I and Chioma didn’t deserve that,” he said.
The musician’s son, Ifeanyi, died in November 2020, following a brief illness. Since then, Davido has largely kept his grief private, but his recent interview with CNN provides fans with a glimpse into how he has been coping with the tragic loss.
