“They’re Complete”, Says Kankara School VP On Return Of Students

Yahaya Salauwa, vice-principal of Government Science Secondary School, Kankara, Katsina state, says all the abducted students been released.

Eko Hot Blog had reported how some gunmen attacked the school on December 11, kidnapping over 300 schoolboys.

Confusion ensued over who carried out the attack as Boko Haram claimed responsibility but Aminu Masari, Katsina state governor, refuted the insurgents claims saying bandits were behind it.

On Thursday, Masari in a televised interview announced that 340 of the boys had been released and would meet with President Muhammadu Buhari before being reunited with their families.

One of the pupils who escaped while the abductors were marching them to the forest claimed that 520 of them were abducted.

But speaking on Friday at the Katsina state government house where the freed schoolboys were hosted, Salauwa said all the missing students have been accounted for.

He added that he recognised the pupils and that no one was left with the abductors.

“I can confirm to you that the student I saw were all our students and we’re extremely excited to see them alive,” Salauwa said.

“We can’t forget the day they were abducted, we were all traumatised and became sleepless praying for their safe return. I can tell you that all the students are complete and none is missing.”
