EKO HOT BLOG reports on Chelsea Football Club been hit with the loss of midfielder Jorginho, who recently completed a £12 million move to Premier League leaders Arsenal.
The departure has left veteran defender Thiago Silva feeling the absence of one of the team’s “great leaders.”
In a recent statement, Silva hailed Jorginho as a key figure in the Chelsea dressing room, known for his strong voice and leadership qualities.
Despite the surprise of the Italian’s departure, Silva acknowledges that it is a part of the game and the team must move forward.
However, Silva also admitted that the loss of Jorginho to a direct rival and competitor is a tough pill to swallow. He recognized that Jorginho’s decision to stay in England, where his family is close, is understandable and a situation that the team has no control over.
The Chelsea team is now tasked with filling the gap left by Jorginho and making up for his absence in the best way possible. As the Premier League season heats up, the Blues will need to dig deep and bring their A-game to stay competitive against the likes of Arsenal.
He said in quote:
“We have lost one of our great leaders in the dressing room, Jorginho, a guy who spoke a lot, this gap will remain, but we have to move on. We didn’t expect him to leave, it happened. Now it’s time to make up for his absence in the best possible way.
“(Jorginho) left for a direct rival and competitor. It’s things that happen in football. He would like to stay in England, his family is close. These are things that we have no control over, but we also have to understand the player’s side.”
