This Singular Project Should Make Igbos Love Buhari When Fully Completed

The Igbos are the people of the popular South-Eastern Nigeria. They are also referred to as Biafrans.

Following the Nigeria/Biafra civil war of between 1967-1970, then during the era of Gowon, as head of state. The incumbent Nigerian president, was recorded to be among those to have headed the murder of millions of Igbos, alongside other top military Officers like Gowon, Obasanjo, Babangida etc.

The aftermath of the civil war, 51yrs ago, has left an unforgettable experience both on the Nigeria and Biafra sides; especially on the side of Biafrans, who appear to be the loser in the 3yrs war.

This has led to what seems like a ceaseless hatred, on president Muhammad Buhari by Igbos (Biafrans)

President Muhammadu Buhari have since his emergence into power, engaged on diverse of what I tagged consolation project in the South Eastern part of the country, aimed at reconciling the damaged relationship between him and the people of the South-East.

President Muhammad Buhari’s regime, have not just initiated a number of projects in South East, but have also completed some other projects which the previous administration, including the government of president Goodluck Jonathan were not able to do, for the the people of South East.

Among them are:

(1) Zik’s Mausoleum in Anambra state which was completed and commissioned after 16yrs and commissioned by Buhari in the 21st year.

(2)Upgrading of Akanu Ibiam International Airport-run way, Enugu;

(3) In 2017, President Buhari approves payment of pending pensions to retired ex-Biafran soldiers; who left Nigerian army and fought for biafra.

(4) Enugu Onitsha express way; and lots more.

Among all these key projects named above, there is this particular one that has been under construction since the era of president Goodluck Jonathan.

The administration of president Muhammadu Buhari, continued with this particular project despite the doubt by South-Easterners that the project may be abandoned.

The project is the gigantic SECOND NIGER BRIDGE. President Muhammadu Buhari shocked the people of South East after he set a committee, in 2016, to review the already awarded project and thereafter, continued with the project.

As of 3rd of March,2021, the project was reported to be at 55percent work done by a national online news reporter, Bertram Nwannekanma:

The report further revealed that the FG has already invested 116.7billion, in the 1.6km second Niger bridge, with additional 10.3km highway Owerri interchange, with a tole gate which total cost was estimated at: ‘414billion’ naira and will be completed in the year 2022. i.e next year.

Past administration have played politics with the second niger bridge, to the extent that it has become the other of the day’s expectation by South-Easterners, from any politician coming to campaign in the zone.

No one takes the promise of building the second niger bridge serious anymore, but it seems president Muhammad Buhari’s words in his campaign will be scored 100% in this one if he completes this project.
