Three people are in the custody of The Lagos State Police Command following their arrest last month overproduction of fake and adulterated drinks.
According to a statement released by PPRO, Bala Elkana, the arrest of the suspects followed a tip-off about the illegal production of alcoholic beverages on Lagos Island.
Giving the address as No. 5 Chapel Street off Apongbon, Lagos Island, Elkana said: “A team of operatives from the State Intelligence Bureau was deployed to the area on surveillance patrol. The operation led to the arrest of three suspects namely.”
He said the three suspects are 27-year-old Dare Shittu, Shittu Opeyemi Abdusalam who is 19 years old as well as 29-year-old Oyenuga Biola while one of them, Prince Fatai Shittu, remains at large.
Bala added that a large quantity of expensive alcoholic drinks suspected to be adulterated, including Hennessy Vsop, Hennessy Xo, Moet Chandon, Jack Daniels, Remy Martins, Red label and others were recovered.
At the illegal mini factory, he said jerricans of substances suspected to be ethanol, cognac coloration, rubber cocks, top cocks, labels, stickers and other instruments used in the illegal business were also recovered.
