The Israeli medical emergency service, Magen David Adom, had earlier reported the fatalities, describing the attack as extremely severe. According to their statement, paramedics who arrived at the scene found a vehicle marked with bullet holes beside the road.
Following the incident, Israel’s far-right National Security Minister, Itamar Ben Gvir, visited the site and called for the establishment of additional checkpoints in the area to enhance security.
“Right to life (of Israelis) is more important than freedom of movement of PA (Palestinian Authority) residents,” he told journalists.
“Instead of freeing terrorists, shoot them in the head.”
The shooting on Sunday occurs amidst an ongoing Israeli military operation in the West Bank that began on Wednesday. Reports from AFP photographers indicate that explosions and gunfire were heard in Jenin city as Israeli forces maintained their activities there.

Since the raids commenced, at least 22 Palestinians have been killed, including 14 militants affiliated with Hamas and Islamic Jihad. The operation has intensified around Jenin and its refugee camp, areas known for their strong presence of Palestinian armed groups.
Violence in the West Bank has surged following the outbreak of conflict in Gaza after Hamas’ attack on southern Israel on October 7. The United Nations reports that approximately 650 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli forces and settlers in the West Bank since that date.
During this period, official Israeli figures indicate that at least 23 Israelis have been killed in Palestinian attacks or during security operations conducted by Israeli forces.
