Three Soldiers, 75 Terrorists Killed In Military Operation
One officer and two soldiers have been killed during an operation in the North-Eastern part of the Nation.
Four others were said to have sustained injuries in the clearing operation being undertaken by the Nigerian military to rid the area of the remnants of Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists.
The acting Director, Defence Media Operations, Brig. Gen. Bernard Onyeuko, said that between September 28 and October 31, 75 Boko Haram/ISWAP elements were neutralised, while their equipment was seized and destroyed.
Onyeuko said, “Within this period, four gun truck, one Bedford truck and three anti-aircraft guns were destroyed.
“Our gallant troops seized weapons, including six gun trucks, four anti-aircraft guns, four General Purpose Machine guns, one automatic grenade launcher and 48 pieces of AK-47 rifles.”
The defence spokesman added that large cache of ammunition was seized including 567 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, 448 rounds of 12.7mm ammunition, 50 rocket propelled grenade bombs, 17 locally-manufactured rounds and three shells for making Improvised Explosive Device.
“These successes were achieved as a result of the sacrifice, commitment and gallantry exhibited by the motivated troops within the theatre of operation of Operation Lafiya Dole,” he said.
