This online media platform gathered that the Secretary of the Media Sub-committee of the Inauguration Ceremony, Rasheed Olawale disclosed that among other dignitaries to grace the event is the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, the party’s National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu, and ten governors.

Olawale noted that diplomats and many foreign business operators would also be attending the ceremony.

According to the Osun State Police Command, an adequate number of security operatives have been deployed to make sure the inauguration goes smoothly.

Ademola Adeleke is set to be inaugurated as the sixth elected governor for the state today at the Osogbo City Stadium.

Information from Osogbo, the Osun state capital, indicates that the venue of the ceremony wore a new look as yesterday night when decorations were underway.

The spokesperson of the Osun State Police Command, Yemisi Opalola, told the Punch that necessary security arrangements had been made to protect lives and property before and after the ceremony.

While Opalola didn’t give a definite number of policemen deployed by the command, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) disclosed that as many as 3,700 personnel would be on duty during the ceremony.

In a statement signed by the Acting Public Relations Officer for NSCDC Osun Command, Kehinde Adeleke, the corps would have an ‘operation stop and search’ within already identified flashpoints across the state.

While urging Osun residents to remain calm, as men of the corps would be on the ground during and after the inauguration to maintain law and order, Adeleke said “The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Osun State Command, has deployed 3,700 personnel for the inauguration of Osun Governor-elect, Senator Ademola Adeleke.

“NSCDC and other sister agencies in the state embarked on a show-of-force yesterday (Friday) as a way of sending a signal to criminally minded people in the state.”

This online media platform understands that the Osun State Security Network, aka Amotekun Corps, has also revealed that 250 of its men would be deployed for the inauguration too.

The Corps’ Public Relations Officer, Idowu Yusuf, told Punch at the venue of the inauguration that all entry and exit points to the state were being monitored closely.
