Akinde brings over 20 years of experience in investment and corporate banking.
His expertise includes capital raising (debt, equities, and hybrids), corporate finance (mergers & acquisitions, privatization advisory, and project finance), and advisory roles. Before joining BOI, Akinde was an Associate Partner in Project and Corporate Finance at Infrastructure Delivery International (IDI), where he contributed to the UKNIAF program and green finance initiatives.
He also served as Corporate Finance Advisor at the Nigeria Infrastructure Advisory Facility (NIAF) and held significant roles at UBA Plc, including Group Head and Assistant General Manager for multinationals within Corporate Banking, and Vice President of Corporate Finance and Advisory at UBA Global Markets.
Uz’Okpala has been with BOI since September 2014, initially as Group Head of Large Enterprises Credit and later as Chief Risk Officer.
As Chief Risk Officer, she played a key role in managing and mitigating risks associated with the bank’s operations and provided crucial support in Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) risk matters.
She developed a strategic framework to attract impact investments and offered essential ESG guidance during transactions. Uz’Okpala’s career spans over 30 years in the financial industry, including roles at International Merchant Bank, MBC International, First Bank, Stanbic Bank, and UBA.
Her expertise covers internal audit, corporate finance, credit evaluation and origination, foreign operations, and risk management.
