Tinubu Approves New Terms and Conditions of Service for Nigerian Armed Forces
EKO HOT BLOG reports that the approval was granted during a National Defense Council meeting held on Monday, which was presided over by President Tinubu. Key officials in attendance included the Minister of Defence, Mohammed Abubakar Badaru; Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle; National Security Adviser (NSA), Nuhu Ribadu; and the service chiefs.
The revised HTACOS is designed to enhance the welfare of military personnel across all ranks and address longstanding issues related to service conditions. The updated policy streamlines regulations for both officers and enlisted members of the armed forces, ensuring better standards of service and support.
During the meeting, President Tinubu reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to improving the lives of military personnel and ensuring they are well-equipped to carry out their constitutional responsibilities.
Details of the new HTACOS will be made public by the Ministry of Defence in the coming days.
This marks the first review of the military’s terms and conditions of service since 2017, when it was last updated by former President Muhammadu Buhari. By regulation, the HTACOS is reviewed every five years.
