EKO HOT BLOG reports that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) national leader and presidential candidate, Bola Ahmed Tinubu has arrived in Ekiti to campaign for Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, the party’s governorship candidate, ahead of Saturday’s gubernatorial election.
According to reports, Tinubu would be joined by the APC national chairman, Abdullahi Adamu, APC governors, and other party stakeholders.
It would be the first public political campaign of Tinubu after his emergence as the APC presidential candidate for the 2023 general elections.
The visit is amidst last-minute electioneering by political parties and their candidates.
It was gathered that the move is to beat the directive of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on the deadlines for political campaigns in Ekiti.
INEC fixed June 16 (Thursday) as the last day for campaigns by political parties ahead of the Ekiti governorship election.
Oyebanji, who is the APC candidate will be contesting against candidates of 15 other political parties, including the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Social Democratic Party (SDP), and African Democratic Congress (ADC) to fill the governorship seat, which will be vacated by Fayemi on October 15 on the completion of two terms in office.
