Eko Hot Blog reports that President Bola Tinubu has begun a closed-door meeting with Vice President Kashim Shettima and several governors in his office at the State House, Abuja. The meeting started shortly after the President’s discussion with the leadership of organized labour about the new minimum wage for Nigerian workers.
Governors present at the meeting include AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara, the chairman of the Nigerian Governors Forum (NGF); Charles Soludo of Anambra; and Usman Ododo of Kogi.
The agenda of the ongoing meeting remains undisclosed at the time of this report.
In other news, Minister of Women Affairs Uju Kennedy-Ohanenye has challenged the House of Representatives Committee on Women Affairs and Social Development to prove any corruption allegations against her in court. Her aide, Musa Abdulrahaman, released a statement on Thursday in Abuja, asserting that all financial transactions in her Ministry comply with established civil service regulations.
The call for evidence follows allegations raised by the committee, chaired by Kafilat Ogbara, concerning the alleged diversion of ₦1.5 billion meant for contractor payments. Contractors had petitioned the committee, claiming non-payment for services rendered to the Ministry.
During a contentious hearing on Tuesday, the minister and committee members had a heated exchange regarding the allegations.
According to Abdulrahaman’s statement, Kennedy-Ohanenye provided comprehensive documentation to counter the claims of financial mismanagement.
