EKO HOT BLOG reports that Gagdi, who sponsored the bill for the institution’s upgrade, expressed his satisfaction, noting that the approval was long-awaited and initially delayed despite the bill being signed by former President Muhammadu Buhari.
He highlighted that delays within the Ministry of Education led to criticisms but felt vindicated after President Tinubu stepped in to ensure the grant’s approval.
The National Universities Commission (NUC) also conducted a site assessment in Pankshin as part of the university’s development process.
The ₦10 billion grant will be channelled through the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) to support the foundational activities of the institution.
In addition, the Federal Government has approved 161 staff recruitment slots to address the staffing needs of the new university, with Gagdi handing over the recruitment approval to the Chairman of the Governing Board.
