President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is set to participate in various events in Lagos to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), where he serves as Chairman.
Eko Hot Blog gathered that the golden jubilee celebrations will feature a series of high-level events, including a symbolic reenactment of the 1975 ECOWAS declaration at the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs (NIIA) in Victoria Island.

The event scheduled to hold at Eko Hotels and Suites, will have President Tinubu deliver a keynote address highlighting the regional body’s achievements over the past five decades.
The event will be attended by key dignitaries, including former Nigerian Head of State General Yakubu Gowon (Rtd), the only surviving founding signatory to the original ECOWAS treaty, who will also give a special address.
During his time in Lagos, President Tinubu will commission several significant infrastructure projects on May 31.
These projects include Section I of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, Lekki Deep Sea Port Tax Credit Concrete Road, and the commencement of Section II of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, The 7th Axial Road.
The President will also virtually commission crucial northern road infrastructure projects, such as the Kano-Kanwar-Danja-Hadejiya Section II Road, Yakasai-Zalli Road, Kano Northern By-pass, Zaria-Hunkuyi-Dabai Section I, Dabai-Kafur-Malumfashi Road, and Malumfashi-Dayi-Yashe-Gidan Mutum Daya Section III.
Before returning to Abuja, President Tinubu is expected to observe Eid-el-Kabir prayers at the State House Mosque, Dodan Barracks.
The ECOWAS anniversary events emphasize Nigeria’s pivotal role in regional integration and development, reaffirming the Tinubu administration’s focus on continental diplomacy and critical infrastructure development.
