How Tinubu Will Achieve 15% Inflation Target By 2025 – Presidency

The presidency on Saturday reaffirmed that President Bola Tinubu will meet his goal of reducing Nigeria’s inflation to 15% by December 2025.

Dada Olusegun, the Special Assistant to the President on Social Media, stated that agriculture and food security will play key roles in achieving this target.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that he emphasized that several mechanisms have already been set in motion to help realize the agenda.

During the presentation of the ₦47.9 trillion 2025 budget to the National Assembly, President Tinubu announced that inflation would decrease from the current 34.6% to 15%. He also restated this goal in his 2025 New Year message. Despite some skepticism, the presidency remains confident that this goal will be accomplished.

Olusegun shared that part of the plan includes the delivery of significant agricultural equipment to Nigeria, including 2,000 tractors, 4,000 disc ploughs, 1,000 disc ridges, 1,200 tractor trailers, and other spare parts in the coming weeks. Additionally, agricultural equipment manufacturing company JohnDeere will set up assembly and maintenance plants in Nigeria.

“On food security, agriculture will be a major priority in 2025 as President Tinubu has set an ambitious agenda to reduce inflation to 15% by December,” Olusegun said. He further detailed the delivery of farm equipment under the National Agricultural Mechanization Programme (NAMP) as part of this initiative.

Olusegun also noted that several states would benefit from the Special Agro Processing Zone program, and zonal commodity exchanges would be introduced to address issues related to hoarding and inflation caused by middlemen.

The presidency emphasized that these initiatives are part of an inclusive approach to correcting past mistakes, and expressed optimism for 2025. “2025 promises to be a great year because joy is coming,” Olusegun concluded.
