‘Tinubu Is In France’ — APC Campaign Debunks Reports Of Meeting With CJN In UK
-
President-elect Tinubu recently left the country to “undertake rest” according to his team.
-
Two days after the trip, reports emerged that he was meeting with the CJN in UK.
-
The reports came after earlier debunked claims that the president-elect was taken out of the country for medical treatment.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential campaign council has debunked reports of a meeting between President-elect Bola Tinubu and the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Olukayode Ariwoola.
The campaign council was reacting to reports that Tinubu met with the CJN in the United Kingdom (UK).

The reports claimed that the CJN travelled in a wheelchair ten days earlier than Tinubu to disguise himself for the alleged clandestine meeting to influence the judiciary.
The president-elect’s opponents in the recently concluded presidential election, Peter Obi of the Labour (LP) and Atiku Abubakar of the People’s Democratic Congress (PDP) have petitions pending before the presidential election petition tribunal.
Both candidates want the tribunal to nullify Tinubu’s declaration as president-elect. The case is expected to end up at the Supreme Court, which is led by CJN Ariwoola.
In a statement on Thursday, the Media Director of the Tinubu campaign council, Bayo Onanuga, said the president-elect is currently in Paris, France, and not in the UK.
He wondered why the CJN travelled ten days before the trip of the former Lagos State governor.
Onanuga, therefore, dismissed the reports as “pure fabricated news, groundless in fact and authenticity.”
“Our attention has been drawn to the grossly fake, misleading and malicious story about the Chief Justice of Nigeria Olukayode Ariwoola disguising to meet President-elect Bola Tinubu in London,” the campaign spokesperson said.
“The story was a pure concoction from the hallucinating minds of hatchet men bent on creating doubts and public distrust about the legitimacy of our recent election, which was won by Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
“We refute emphatically that there has been no clandestine meeting between the President-elect and the respected Chief Justice of our country, anywhere. It’s pure fabricated news, groundless in fact and authenticity.
“To show that the story was a mere salacious fiction, meant to draw traffic to the discredited purveyor, it claimed the Chief Justice left Nigeria for London on 11 March, on a wheelchair to board a plane.
“The President-elect left Nigeria on 21 March, 10 clear days thereafter. What kind of appointment or secret meeting will the two men have arranged in London, with so wide disparate arrival dates, except in the imagination of the false news merchants?
“We can confirm that the President-elect, who left Nigeria Tuesday has not been in London. He is right now in France to have a deserved rest, after a hectic campaign that began in January 2022. He will go to London thereafter before proceeding to Mecca for the lesser Hajj.
