EKO HOT BLOG reports that Mahama’s triumph brings an end to the two-term rule of the New Patriotic Party, led by outgoing President Nana Akufo-Addo. His main opponent, Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia, gracefully conceded defeat after the December 8 polls, reinforcing Ghana’s reputation for peaceful democratic transitions.

Speaking at the event, Tinubu shaded light the bond between the two West African nations and expressed optimism about the prospects of Mahama’s leadership.

“Even when we disagree, we must choose the path of peaceful dialogue,” Tinubu remarked. “Your new President is a man of vision and substance, deeply committed to the progress of his people. My dear brother, I stand ready to work with you. Whenever you call, Nigeria will answer. Together, we will bring prosperity to the citizens of our two great nations.”

The inauguration, attended by African leaders and dignitaries from around the globe, was a moment of celebration for Ghana’s democratic stability. Tinubu praised the occasion, describing it as a source of pride not just for Ghana but for the entire African continent.

“I am here today, not only as the President of Nigeria but as an African committed to the progress of Ghana and her people,” he said. “This moment shines brightly—a black star rising in the African sky, spreading rays of hope, unity, and destiny across the continent.”

Tinubu also seized the opportunity to address critics of Africa, urging leaders to focus on uplifting their nations rather than seeking validation from outsiders.

“The election of Mahama and those before him shows that West Africa is capable of democratic governance and impactful leadership,” Tinubu noted. “It’s time for Africa’s critics to acknowledge the strides we’ve made. We owe no explanations to anyone but ourselves. Together, we will lift our people out of poverty and build economies that stand tall on the global stage.”
