Tinubu May Settle For Ganduje As APC National Chairman’- Reports
Eko Hot Blog reports that President Bola Tinubu may settle for former governor of Kano State, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, as next national chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
The development came less than three days after the resignation of Senator Abdullahi Adamu from the position. Chairman of Progressive Governors’ Forum (PGF), Hope Uzodimma, is said to be among those that persuaded Ganduje to accept the office, as against the ministerial slot he had been eyeing.
The Kano-born politician who is a die-hard loyalist of Tinubu may soon be announced as APC acting national chairman, pending his confirmation at a national convention of the party later.
A source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, explained how Tinubu narrowed his search to Ganduje thus:
“The President had listed Ganduje as one of the nominees for ministerial appointment but because of his trust and confidence in the former governor, President Tinubu had to change his mind and ask two governors (Hope Uzodimma (Imo) and the AbdulRahman AbdulRazak (Kwara) to persuade Ganduje unto another assignment. The President also asked him (Ganduje) to nominate another person from Kano for the ministerial job.”
“I can confirm to you that four serving governors of APC, including Imo and Kwara governors led Ganduje to a meeting with the President on Wednesday (yesterday) afternoon. The purpose of that meeting is for Tinubu to brief Ganduje directly about the new assignment.”
