Tinubu Mourns Loss Of 17 Lives In Tragic Niger Auto Accident

Eko Hot Blog reports that President Bola Tinubu has commiserated with the people and government of Niger State over a ghastly auto-crash, which led to the loss of 17 lives in Magama Local Government Area of the State.

This news medium gathered that at least 17 persons died in an auto crash at Takalafia village along the Yawuri Expressway in Magama.

The FRSC Public Education Officer, Bisi Kazeem, confirmed the accident in a statement he signed in Abuja stating that the accident happened at about 2 am on Tuesday and involved 229 persons comprising 220 men, four women and five boys.

Kazeem noted than the crash involved an over-speeding DAF articulated vehicle that lost control. 206 men, one woman, and one male child were rescued but sustained varying degrees of injuries.

He said “A total of 17 persons were killed in the crash. The injured victims have been evacuated to Kontagora General Hospital, Niger, for immediate medical attention. The dead were deposited in the mortuary of the same hospital.”

In a press statement issued on Wednesday by the special Adviser to the president on media and publicity Ajuri Ngelale, President Tinubu condoles with the families of those who lost their lives in the accident and prays for the repose of the souls of the deceased.

The President who described the incident as a harrowing tragedy directed the agency responsible for emergency response to immediately move in and ensure that those injured in the tragic accident get the necessary treatment at the highest quality and with alacrity.

President Tinubu implores citizens to be vigilant and safety conscious as they travel during this festive season, and always.
