Yuletide: Tinubu May Consider Dropping Fuel Price To N300/ltr
Tinubu may consider dropping the price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) to N300 per litre during the upcoming Yuletide season, following advice from former Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Bode George.
George believes this reduction would enable Nigerians to celebrate a joyful and prosperous Christmas season.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that currently, the price of a litre of fuel is approximately N1,100 to N1,200 across the country, following the removal of the fuel subsidy.
The fuel price hike, which started after President Tinubu’s assumption of office in 2023, has contributed to inflation, which currently stands at 33.88%, driving up the cost of goods and services.
Speaking to the press, George emphasized that reducing the fuel price would help ease the burden of “anger and hunger” in the country. He proposed that the government could calculate the cost of this reduction and seek support from philanthropic Nigerians to help fund the initiative.
“This gesture would send a message of joy and hope to every home during Christmas and the New Year,” George stated. “This is a challenge I am throwing to him, and I believe he can do it.”
George also suggested that the First Lady, Mrs. Oluremi Tinubu, could contribute to the cause. “If the First Lady can donate N1bn to a university, she can also contribute towards the reduction in fuel prices,” he said.
He argued that lowering fuel prices would ultimately reduce the cost of food items, allowing Nigerians to celebrate the festive season in a more joyous mood, filled with gratitude and prayers for the President.
As the country faces mounting economic challenges, this call from George has sparked discussion on the feasibility of such a move, particularly in light of the ongoing financial strain caused by inflation.
