Former Lagos state governor and national leader of All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu has brushed off stories of his ill-health or death.
He went on to declare himself fit as a fiddle and said he was hale and hearty.
He spoke when he received Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu in London, United Kingdom.
“I’m fit like a fiddle,” Tinubu was quoted as telling his visitor.
Recall that news reports over the weekend had declared that Tinubu was ill and had undertaken a medical procedure in Maryland and was waiting for another procedure.
The rumors about Tinubu, however, did not give any substantial facts about the alleged ill-health despite the insinuation that he was at the point of death. .
The rumors were, however, debunked by his spokesman, Tunde Rahman who said that it had become the custom of some mischief-makers in the media to assume that Tinubu is ill anytime he travelled out of the country.
Reacting to the reports which were first published by Saharareporters quoting what it claimed as confidential sources, that Tinubu was at the point of death, Rahman had said:
“His Excellency Asiwaju Bola Tinubu is fine. He is hale and hearty. He is not in any hospital. He has no medical problem that would require hospitalization.
“Yes, he is out of the country at the moment. He will be back shortly. Anytime he travels out of the country, the next thing some mischievous people would say is he is sick, hospitalized or has died.
“It is shameful that perpetrators of this evil are not deterred by the fact that each time this fake news has been propagated, they have been proven wrong.
