President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has removed Dr. Chioma Ejikeme as the Executive Secretary of the Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate (PTAD) and appointed Miss Tolulope Abiodun Odunaiya as her successor.

The announcement was made on Monday through a statement by PTAD spokesperson Olugbenga Ajayi, confirming Miss Odunaiya’s appointment as the new leader of the agency.

“We are delighted to inform PTAD pensioners and stakeholders of the appointment of Miss Tolulope Abiodun Odunaiya by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the substantive Executive Secretary of the Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate (PTAD),” the statement read.

No reason was provided for Dr. Ejikeme’s removal, which occurred just over a year after she was reappointed for a second term in October 2023.

Miss Odunaiya officially assumed office on Monday, November 18, 2024, at PTAD’s headquarters in Abuja, where she was warmly received by the directorate’s management and staff.

In her inaugural remarks, Miss Odunaiya pledged to build on the foundation laid by her predecessors and foster a culture of collaboration and unity within the agency.

“It is with a deep sense of responsibility and purpose that I address you as the new Executive Secretary of this Directorate,” she said. “I want to begin by acknowledging the remarkable work of my predecessors and the dedication of every individual who has contributed to bringing us to this point.”

Miss Odunaiya outlined her vision for a rejuvenated PTAD focused on the welfare of pensioners, whom she described as critical to Nigeria’s history and development.

“My vision is for a directorate where every individual feels recognized, empowered, and motivated to make meaningful contributions,” she stated. “I urge all of us to transcend personal interests and focus on improving the lives of our pensioners, who have selflessly served this nation, often in challenging circumstances.”

She also emphasized aligning PTAD’s operations with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, pledging to uphold efficiency, accountability, and compassion.

“Pensioners are the backbone of our country’s history and development. It is both our responsibility and honor to ensure they receive the care, respect, and timely entitlements they deserve,” Miss Odunaiya said. “By prioritizing efficiency, accountability, and compassion, we will contribute to a nation where every citizen feels valued and supported—especially those who dedicated their lives to public service.”
