Lawal was sworn in alongside Jamila Bio Ibrahim as the Minister of Youth Development, and Ayodele Olawande as the Minister of State for Youth Development during a short ceremony.
The ceremony was held before the commencement of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting at the Council Chamber of the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
In a statement issued by the Presidency, Lawal is charged with the responsibility of implementing environmental policies and addressing challenges related to climate change as well as ensuring proper waste management in the country.
The statement reads: “The minister of environment is responsible for formulating and implementing environmental policies,” the statement reads.
They oversee initiatives to protect and conserve the nation’s natural resources. The minister addresses challenges related to climate change and ensures proper waste management practices.
“Their role also involves promoting public awareness on environmental sustainability.”

The former Kaduna SSG also fainted during his screening at the Senate last month but was later screened and confirmed by the Red Chamber.
