Tinubu to Attend Ghana’s President-Elect Inauguration
- President Tinubu will attend John Mahama’s inauguration in Ghana on January 7, 2025.
- Mahama, reelected in December 2024, succeeds Nana Akufo-Addo as Ghana’s president.
- Tinubu, as ECOWAS Chairman, will join other African leaders at the ceremony.
President Bola Tinubu will travel to Accra, Ghana, on Monday to attend the inauguration of President-elect John Mahama on January 7, 2025.
Mahama, who previously served as Ghana’s 12th president from 2011 to 2017, was reelected in December 2024. He will succeed President Nana Akufo-Addo, whose tenure spanned from 2017 to 2025.

In a statement, Mr. Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu’s spokesman, noted that the visit follows an invitation from Mahama, who had earlier met with Tinubu in December.
The two leaders share a longstanding personal bond, reflecting the enduring bilateral relationship between Nigeria and Ghana.
As Chairman of the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government, Tinubu will join other African leaders at the inauguration ceremony.
