Tinubu’s Presidential Ambition Insult To Civilised Nigerians – Bode George

  • “We must make sure that they investigate him. He’s junketing all over the place”

Bode George, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has urged Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to home in on Bola Tinubu, national leader of All Progressives Congress (APC), and investigate his tenure as Lagos state governor

Speaking during an Arise TV programme on Friday, George also called on the anti-graft agency to probe Tinubu’s alleged nvolvement with Alpha Beta Consulting, a tax firm

He also scoffed at the presidential aspiration of Tinubu, noting that the APC bigwig lacked what it takes to be president and that he would denounce his Nigerian citizenship should Tinubu become Nigeria president.

Although Tinubu has not officially declared his interest in running for the presidency 2023, his move and actions are indicative of such ambition, with many of his supporters persuading him to throw his hat in the ring for the highest political office in the country.

Speaking during the Friday programme, George said Tinubu’s presidential ambition was an insult to the sensibilities of Nigerians working for the growth and development of the country and that he would cease to be Nigerian if such ambition materialised.

He said: “I’ve talked about it and I’m still saying publicly that the EFCC should go urgently and investigate Alpha Beta Company owned by him.

“Let me say it in very clear language, to me it’s an insult to de-civilise the people of this country who are committed to national development that the likes of him want to run this country.

“We must make sure that they investigate him. He’s junketing all over the place—an insult to the civilised minds who work so hard in this country. If, by whatever yardstick, he becomes the head of state, I will cease to be a Nigerian and I’m not joking.”

On the troubling security situation in the country, George described it as “very heart-wrenching,” urging clerics to propagate morality to youths.

He said: “Our religious leaders must come out and talk, let us teach our kids the moral standards required in a civilised environment. What happened to the civics that we learnt when we were young?
