EKO HOT BLOG reports that the Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 elections, Peter Obi, has announced that he will address Nigerians and the international community following the declaration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the winner of the election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
In a post via his verified Twitter handle on Wednesday afternoon, Obi stated that his vice-presidential candidate, Dr. Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed, was already addressing an international press conference at the Labour Party Headquarters in Abuja.
He further revealed that he would address Nigerians and the international community shortly, but did not disclose the venue or time of the address.
The announcement of Tinubu’s victory has generated mixed reactions from Nigerians, with some congratulating him while others expressed dissatisfaction with the outcome of the election.
Tinubu, a former governor of Lagos State, contested on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), one of the major political parties in the country.
Obi, a former governor of Anambra State, contested on the platform of the Labour Party, which is one of the smaller political parties in Nigeria.
The election, which took place on Saturday, February 25, 2023, was keenly contested by several candidates across different political parties, with Tinubu and Obi emerging as two of the top contenders
“Our Vice presidential candidate Dr. Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed is addressing an international press conference at the Labour Party Headquarters in Abuja. I intend to address Nigerians and the international community shortly,” his tweet promised.
