EKO HOT BLOG reports that Todd Boehly is reportedly ready to launch Chelsea straight into the thick of the battle for Jude Bellingham next summer.
There is a long list of suitors looking to snap up the Borussia Dortmund star with many priming bids for 2023.
The Bundesliga outfit told would-be buyers that the 19-year-old was not for sale this year, having already lost Erling Haaland.
But a free-for-all is expected to go ahead next year with the likes of Liverpool and Manchester United eyeing the England international. But there is further competition across Europe with Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid also heavily interested.
However, according to the Telegraph, Chelsea are ready to enter the fray with new owner Boehly not put off by the fact that the Blues are playing catch-up. While there are a host of clubs keen, Liverpool and Real Madrid are at the front of the queue having laid the groundwork over many months.
But Boehly has not been put off and will make inroads into persuading Bellingham and his representatives that Stamford Bridge is the right place for him.
Furthermore, the American billionaire has made it his personal mission to do so and is looking to build relationships with Dortmund and the player.
A top-class midfielder is top of the wish list next year with N’Golo Kante and Jorginho in their 30s and in the last year of their contracts. Declan Rice remains on the club’s radar but West Ham demanded £130million.
A new attempt is likely to arrive next summer to test the Hammers’ resolve, while Rice is yet to put pen to paper over a new contract. Any move is likely to cost a pretty penny, a summer after Chelsea spent close to £300m.
