PDP Chieftains have dumped PDP to join the ruling APC.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that the Kwara State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Thursday received a boost as top chieftains of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) defected to the ruling party.

It was revealed that a former Deputy Speaker of Kwara House of Assembly, Mathew Okedare; and former Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Abdullahi Alikinla, withdrew their membership from the PDP yesterday.

The party chieftains were reportedly among other strong supporters of opposition parties in the state who pledged their allegiance to the APC on Thursday, November 25, 2022.

At least ten thousand (10,000) former opposition members reportedly joined APC yesterday in the state. Other notable faces in the defection train include former Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Musa Yeketi, and Personal Assistant to the former Gov. Abdulfatah Ahmed on Political Matters.

Some chieftains of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) and African Democratic Congress (ADC) were also part of the defectors.

The defectors were received yesterday in Ilorin, the state capital, by Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.

Top government officials and party chieftains, including the state APC Chairman, Sunday Fagbemi, and the Director General of the APC Campaign team, Alhaji Yahaya Seriki, were all present to receive the new members.

In his remark, Governor AbdulRazaq commended the defectors for their bold decision and assured them of fairness and equal treatment in the party.

The governor listed some of his administration’s scorecards across sectors and enjoined the APC members to remain resolute in delivering the state at the 2023 general elections.

Fagbemi, on his part, said Kwara people have all seen the huge gap between the past and present administrations in terms of inclusive growth and good governance and have vowed never to allow the state to go backward.

He said the comeback bid of the PDP was evil and targeted at denying the citizens what they were already enjoying under AbdulRazaq, restating the government’s scorecards across sectors.
