Top Democrat Sponsor, Clooney Calls on Biden to Drop Out
George Clooney has called for Joe Biden to withdraw from the US presidential race, shortly after senior Democrat Nancy Pelosi avoided direct questions about Biden’s future candidacy.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the Hollywood actor and influential Democratic Party fundraiser asserted that while the president has achieved many victories in his career, “the one battle he cannot win is the fight against time.”
Clooney’s remarks followed Mrs. Pelosi, the former House Speaker, expressing growing concerns within the party, noting that time was “running short” for Mr. Biden to decide on his candidacy after a disappointing debate performance.
Despite these concerns, the president has consistently affirmed his determination to remain the Democratic party’s candidate and defeat Trump in November.

Writing in The New York Times, Clooney shared his somber view, stating, “It was devastating to say it, but the Mr. Biden I met at a fundraising event three weeks ago was not the ‘Joe ‘big ****ing deal’ Biden of 2010. He wasn’t even the Joe Biden of 2020.”
“He was the same man we all witnessed at the debate,” Clooney added. The fundraising event, held in Los Angeles, raised a record $30m (£23.3m) in a single night for the Biden campaign.
“Our party leaders need to stop telling us that 51 million people didn’t see what we just saw,” Clooney wrote.
“This is about age. Nothing more,” he continued. “We are not going to win in November with this president.”
Clooney noted that his concerns were echoed by “every” member of Congress he had spoken to.
Meanwhile, public dissent within Mr. Biden’s party continues to grow as he faces scrutiny while hosting the NATO summit in Washington.
