President Bola Tinubu is set to discuss the new national minimum wage with state governors at the 142nd meeting of the National Economic Council (NEC) at the Aso Rock Villa, Abuja, on Thursday.
The President’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, revealed this plan during a visit to Kano, where he led a high-powered delegation to offer condolences to Vice President Kashim Shettima over the death of his mother-in-law.
This meeting follows the Federal Executive Council’s decision on Tuesday to step down the report of the Tripartite Committee on the New National Minimum Wage.
Vice President Kashim Shettima has dismissed allegations that President Bola Tinubu is working against the North.
Shettima asserted that the president is interested in the growth of Northern Nigeria as against a series of insinuations that the President is working to cripple the region.
“At an appropriate time, we will lay out facts that the President is not against the North as being championed by some disgruntled elements who always want to cause disaffection between government and the citizens.” He said
Senate President Godswill Akpabio has affirmed that the Senate would approve the purchase of a presidential jet if necessary, while denying any current request and dismissing speculations as anticipatory blackmail.
Akpabio emphasized that the Senate is committed to approving measures that benefit the Nigerian people while also acknowledging the duties of the president.
He clarified that there is currently no request for the approval of a presidential jet purchase before the Senate, countering speculations in some reports. The Senate President further described such reports as anticipatory blackmail.

A Federal High Court sitting in Lagos on Monday acquitted Ikuforiji of a 54-count money laundering charge brought against him by the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC).
The case, which involved multiple trials and a Supreme Court intervention, lasted over 12 years.
