EKO HOT BLOG reports that a severe rainstorm accompanied by heavy rainfall has resulted in the tragic loss of two lives and numerous injuries in the Ringim Local Government Area of Jigawa State.
The devastating incident occurred in the early hours of Monday, causing significant damage to the affected area.
The Chairman of the Ringim Local Government Council, Hon. Shehu Sule Udi, confirmed the incident and expressed his condolences to the affected families.
He attributed the casualties and destruction to the intensity of the rainfall, which began at approximately 1:00 am and affected several villages, primarily Larabawa and Hambarawa.
According to Udi, the rainstorm claimed the lives of two individuals and left many others injured. Additionally, approximately twenty houses were destroyed as a result of the powerful winds and heavy downpour. The affected residents now find themselves grappling with the aftermath of the disaster.
In light of the tragic event, Udi extended his sympathies to the families of the deceased and urged them to find solace in Allah’s divine mercy. He also offered prayers for the departed souls and for strength for the bereaved families as they cope with the loss. The local government is actively working to support the victims and alleviate their plight during this challenging time.
It is worth noting that Ringim Local Government has experienced similar devastation caused by rainstorms in the past. Last year, heavy rainfall claimed numerous lives and resulted in the destruction of homes and properties worth millions of Naira.
The recent incident serves as a reminder of the vulnerability faced by communities in the region during periods of intense weather conditions.
As the affected families mourn their loved ones and assess the damage caused by the rainstorm, the government and relevant authorities will continue to provide assistance and support to help them rebuild their lives.
Efforts will focus on addressing the immediate needs of those affected and implementing measures to mitigate the impact of future weather-related events.
