Tourism Development: Lagos To Partner Stakeholders

The Lagos State Government has indicated her willingness to collaborate with critical stakeholders in the Entertainment, Tourism and Arts to transform the sector and make it globally competitive.
This was disclosed by the Commissioner for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mrs. Shuli Adebolu while receiving the members of the Association of Nigerian Journalists and Writers of Tourism (ANJET) on a courtesy visit to the Ministry.
The Commissioner reiterated the commitment of the Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu to transform the sector as part of his THEMES agenda and make Lagos a preferred global tourist destination.

She explained that part of the strategies being adopted by the government includes the establishment of a ‘One-stop Shop’ to fast-track registration, expansion of the international film space and standardization of the ratings for hotels, restaurants and eateries as well as the establishment of a creative arts academy to nurture young talents and create jobs.
Adebolu also announced the desire of the State government to hold the biggest end of the year celebration that would be held across the five divisions of the State, aside from the observance of this year’s World Tourism Day.
The President of the Association, Mr. Andrew Ogunbowa congratulated the Commissioner and the Special Adviser, Mr. Solomom Bonu on their well-deserved appointments and assured them of the Association’s cooperation and support for the tourism and entertainment industry.

He challenged the Ministry to implement the Tourism Master Plan in addition to ensuring a vibrant synergy to utilise the waterways optimally.
Ogunbowa used the occasion to formally invite the Commissioner to the Association’s forthcoming seminar tagged ‘Tourism and Jobs’ as part of activities commemorating United Nation’s World Tourism Day.
