Eko Hot Blog reports that the Labour Party Presidential candidate, Peter Obi, lashed out at a presidential campaign spokesman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Dino Melaye, during a town hall meeting on Sunday.
The presidential town hall meeting, which aired on Arise TV, was attended by four presidential candidates, including Obi, Atiku Abubakar (represented by his running mate) of the Peoples Democratic Party; Rabiu Kwakwanso of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, and Kola Abiola of the Peoples Redemption Party.
The meeting was going on without rancour until Obi was heard complaining about Melaye’s conduct.
The PDP campaign spokesman seemingly accused a supporter of the former Anambra governor of causing trouble in the crowd, but the latter wasn’t having any of it.
He pointed out that a person who Melaye had tagged a supporter of his was actually from the NNPP.
The LP candidate, who lost his cool, also accused the former lawmaker of targeting his supporters unfairly.
“You see what is happening there. I won’t take this. He called it Obi people. This man is an NNPP person but you called it Obi people. Stop that, please, Dino,” Obi was heard saying.
He interjected Melaye, who tried to clarify his claim, saying, “you did, stop that. I’ve taken a lot from you here. Why are you always calling me?”
The heated argument took less than a minute before the programme continued.
