EKO HOT BLOG reports that Nollywood actress, Gbemi Anjola, who recently passed away at the age of 33 after a two-year battle with ovarian cancer has received a lot of tributes from the industry following her passing, specifically from Kolawole Ajeyemi, husband to Nollywood actress, Toyin Abraham.
The news of her death was confirmed by her colleagues and friends in the entertainment industry, who took to social media to mourn her passing.
According to reports, Gbemi had been undergoing chemotherapy in Dubai for six months before she passed away. She had been complaining of frequent headaches and loss of memory before she was rushed to the hospital, where she eventually passed away.
In a heartfelt tribute on Instagram, Kolawole Ajeyemi, the husband of Nollywood actress, Toyin Abraham, expressed his condolences to Gbemi’s family and friends. He also reflected on the fleeting nature of life and the importance of cherishing every moment.
“I’ll keep saying it, nothing in this world is forever. We all work and struggle so hard on a life that can be taken at any time, it’s all vanity upon vanity. Good night Gbemi,” he wrote.
Gbemi’s passing has also been mourned by other members of the Nigerian film industry, including Nkechi Blessing, Itele, and Kemi Ariyo. Kemi shared an old video of herself and Gbemi together, taken during the latter’s chemotherapy treatment, and pleaded for more support for the young actress.
In an emotional caption accompanying the video, Kemi expressed her disbelief at Gbemi’s passing and praised her for her strength and resilience in the face of her illness.
“You give me so much hope. Nothing dey this life self,” she wrote.
Nkechi, meanwhile, expressed her shock and sadness at the news of Gbemi’s death, saying that she was “weakened” by the loss of her friend and colleague.
Gbemi was known for her roles in popular Nollywood movies such as “Binta and Friends” and “Sekunola”. Her passing has left a void in the Nigerian film industry, and she will be deeply missed by her fans, colleagues, and loved ones.
