EKO HOT BLOG reports that some traders at the Ogbete Main Market in Enugu State, on Wednesday, protested the sealing of their shops and stores by the State Government.

This online media platform reports that Governor Peter Mbah had upon assumption of office placed a ban on the regular Monday sit-at-home imposed by a faction of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

However, many residents are yet to comply with the governor’s directive out of fear of possible attack by unknown gunmen terrorizing the state and the South East.

Following the non-compliance, the governor ordered the closure of banks and businesses at the Ogbete main market and other parts of the state for not opening on Monday.

The state government said the affected shops will be closed for one week and also gave conditions that the affected traders must meet before their shops would be reopened.

The development has now sparked a protest by Ogbete market traders who took to the street to condemn the action of the governor.
