EKO HOT BLOG reports on the traffic jam that invaded the expressway of Lagos-Ibadan road. The gridlock has left road users helpless following a total shutdown of the highway.
The gridlock is reported to have been caused by a fuel tanker that collapsed across the highway, shutting off road access and slowing down movements for road users.
The traffic jam also affected expressways leading to and from Berger Highway to Redeemed.
According to eyewitness reports, the fuel tanker that created the gridlock had its fuel emptied as a preventive measure against accidental explosion that could create further harm to road users plying the express.
Eko hot blog was privileged to speak with a few motorists who were stuck on the Lagos-Ibadan road. Some stated the incident had occurred the night before when the tanker fell under the Ibafo pedestrian bridge in Obafemi Owode Local Government Area of Ogun State.
One motorist on the Lagos-Ibadan road, identified as Mr. Ifeanyi lamented being on that road for hours after journeying from Onitsha all through Benin and leaving his brother behind in the vehicle due to the frustration of waiting long hours for movement.
Lagos-Ibadan expressway has been a plague for travellers along the express, with the road most famous for its traffic jam.
